In-conference events

Come join the LGBTQIA+ (and allies) meetup!

We’ve held a couple of these virtually over the last two years, and they are a wonderful way to meet other members of our community. We’ll start with some short introductions from LGBT+ members to break the ice and get to know one another more. It’s a fun social event with lots of time to chat and catch up.

Outreach

This year, ASAB are doing something very exciting by providing an opportunity for academics to interact with school students directly during the Winter meeting. Outreach is such an important part of what we do, enthusing the next generation of animal behaviourists, and guiding them in terms of what opportunities are out there (plus they often ask some of the most interesting and challenging questions!). Not only will we be inviting a group of students (aged 16-18) to attend our outreach plenary, but they will also get the opportunity to read and vote on your academic posters, with the opportunity for someone to win the student’s choice prize. They will also attend a ‘Next Steps’ session where the Education Team will showcase some of the various opportunities available to them in the field of animal behaviour. We really hope that all attendees enjoy the chance to interact with a different type of audience and share your passions with them. If you are a PhD/MSc student who is also interested in helping out with the ‘Next Steps’ session please contact Julia Myatt our Education Secretary at j.p.myatt@bham.ac.uk. Look forward to seeing you all there!
